The BMFA is the body delegated by the Royal Aero Club to be responsible for all aspects of model flying in Great Britain.
The BMFA normally has around 780 clubs affiliated to it, with a combined membership from clubs and individual members of over 36,000.
Membership brings many benefits, including 3rd party liability insurance of up to £5 million.

The North Eastern Area is one of thirteen geographic BMFA areas in the country and was firsted formed on the 4th August 1946, by representatives from Stockton, Newcastle, Seaham and Eston model clubs.The first meeting lasted five hours and a full constitution based on that drafted by the Midland Area was adopted A. report of the days events appeared in the October 1946 issue of Aeromodeller . The area we now cover stretches from Teesside to Whitehaven / Carlisle in the west and as far north as you would care to go.

Northern Ireland

Radio controlled (RC) model flying in Northern Ireland is governed by the Northern Ireland Association of Aeromodellers (NIAA) who are responsible for the promotion and development of model aircraft flying in the province, and is accredited as such by the Sports Council for Northern Ireland (SCNI). We currently have twenty-four affiliated clubs located throughout the province.
