1980 onwards visited clubs from Dorset to Reading weekly to complete test for area pilots – very busy period as the achievement scheme was very active in the early days
1983 - first balsa brain events – led the Petersfield teams
Late 80s – Organised through Petersfield club the scale RC events at the 2 day southern galas held at Beaulieu

Don also flew all sorts of RC models – although he did have a leaning towards the classic aerobatic models of the 70s and 80s . Always built his own models with his trademark high levels of finish and decoration . Don has always donated much of his own time and expertise to ensure that others can enjoy the hobby that he has loved so much – and many pilots today have benefited from Dons support and encouragement - a deserved winner of this years award
